Who we are...

The history of the "Alte Meierei" goes back 20 years to the early 80s. In that time the city council offered several legal houses in order to end up the squats of the "Sophienblatt" in Kiel. The "Alte Meierei" is the only project that has its roots in these days.

Today we see the "Alte Meierei" as an autonomous political culture-center, in which there's also a place to live. We organize non-profit-concerts, theater and other kind of events. Bands have the opportunity to rehearsesals, there are working places, and we have regular cafe, vokü and political meetings.
The "Alte Meierei" is autonomously organized, which means that everyone (individual or group) is responsible for what happens , what should happen AND what not (should) happen(s). We refuse hierachical orders; we refuse offical money by state or council, in order to preserve our independency. we do not work together with political parties nor governmental structures. All the money, that enters our cashbox will go out for the running costs. Since the contract of use from 1983 the hall of the "Alte Meierei" is used for public events.

from Hamburg

- you take the A7 to FLENSBURG.
- at "AUTOBAHNDREIECK BORDESHOLM" take the A217 (KIEL)
- just before you reach Kiel take the B76 in direction PREETZ/PLÖN/LÜBECK/OSTUFER
- you pass an incinerating plant - now pay attention:
on the right there's an merchant of wheels. The "Alte Meierei" right behind.

from Berlin

- take the A24 to Hamburg
- BEFORE YOU REACH HAMBURG take the B404 to Kiel
- In Kiel take the B76 to PREETZ/PLÖN/OSTUFER
- next opportunity right and go back on the main street (you have to go back a small part)
- on the right there's an merchant of wheels. The "Alte Meierei" right behind.
